Spirituality and Essential Oils

Throughout human history, mankind has used essential oils during times of prayer, meditation and fasting. The Bible calls them anointing oils. These oils have aided in enhancing the spiritual connection and communion with God. They were used in the Temple and in homes. Today, we can still benefit from the use of essential oils in our spiritual walk with God. In this post, I am going to share with you different essential oils that have been used to enhance this time and the reported benefits. Start to incorporate different oils as the Lord leads you.

Frankincense elevates personal and spiritual love and heightens awareness on all levels by inspiring and awakening the spiritual senses. Frankincense is an oil of transformation that expands awareness. It is said frankincense accelerates spiritual growth as it promotes the meditative. Frankincense removes all negative influences. Frankincense enhances divine connection and brings inner peace. Diffuse frankincense oil for spirituality, love, consecration, blessing, energy, strength, visions, healing, meditation, purification, power and courage. Frankincense increases the potency of other oils. Biblical references: Exodus 30:34; Leviticus 2:1, 15, 16, 5:11, 6:15, 24:7; Numbers 5:15, 16:46-50 (Aaron stops a plague); 1 Chron 9:29; Nehemiah 13:5, 9; Song of Solomon 3:6, 4:6, 14; Isaiah 59:20, 60:3, 6, (prophesy the gifts of the wise men), Isaiah 66:3; Jeremiah 6:20, 17:26, 41:5 (NOTE: these six references from Isaiah and Jeremiah are translated as “incense” in the KJV. However, the Hebrew in all cases is “lebonah” which is Frankincense); Matthew 2:11 (wise men visit); Revelation 18:13.

Sandalwood encompasses and enhances both the spiritual and physical well-being of men and women. Sandalwood has one of the highest vibrations of any oil that enhances spiritual awareness and allowing healing energies to flow. Sandalwood enhances receptivity. Sandalwood oil placed on the forehead aids in focusing the mind and helps the dream state and promotes visions. Sandalwood is also associated with spirituality and meditation.

Myrrh enhances and strengthens spirituality, visualisation and meditation practice. Myrrh lifts vibrations and increases the potency of other oils. Myrrh has the ability to bring up deep, hidden, or unconscious feelings.  Myrrh is also associated with ttransformation, the Sacred, cleansing, and creating peace. Biblical references: Genesis 37:25, 43:11; Exodus 30:23, 30:34 as Stacte; Esther 2:12; Psalms 45:8; Proverbs 7:17; Song of Solomon 1:13, 3:6, 4:6, 14, 5:1, 5, 13; Matthew 2:11, 26:7, 9, 12; Mark 14:3, 4, 15:23, Luke 7:37, 38, 46, 23:56; John 11:2, 12:3, 5, 19:39.

Cedarwood is a purifier, and is beneficial for healing on both the physical and spiritual levels. It enhances spirituality by assisting one to reconnect to their spiritual awareness. Cedarwood harmonizes and stabilises unbalanced energies and encourages energy flow. Biblical refernces: Leviticus 14:4, 6, 49, 51, 52; Numbers 19:6.

Cypress is commonly used for blessing, consecration and protection. Cypress engenders inner strength and quietude. Biblical references: Genesis 6:14; Isaiah 41:19, 44: 14; I Kings 9:11; Song of Solomon 1:17.

Jasmine is said to induce prophetic dreams if diffused in the bedroom. Jasmine is also associated anointing and meditation.

Orange harmonizes the body, mind and spirit. Orange is also associated with love, favor, balance, healing, harmony, peace, provision and prosperity, spiritual awareness, blessing, joy and warmth.

Peppermint oil promotes sleep and visionary dreams which sometimes offer one glimpses of the future. It is used in healing and purification baths.
